v3.0 -/- 2018-06-07:

DkimX 3.0 has been greatly improved compared to previous versions and implements the following main changes:

Installing DkimX 3.51

Prerequisites for the DkimX feature:

note Note   During installation of DkimX, the service Microsoft Exchange Transport will be restarted.

note Note   To create a simple, working DKIM signer configuration after a fresh installation, please follow the steps described in the topic Enable a Local Domain for DKIM Signing.

note Note   Though optional, we strongly recommend that you configure one or more recipients of server notifications which will be notified by e-mail of critical errors, license management events and product updates.

Other Installation Considerations

Uninstalling the Product

To uninstall the product, open the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel, select DkimX 3.51 and click the Remove button.

note Note   During uninstallation of DkimX, the service Microsoft Exchange Transport will be restarted.

Upgrading from DkimX 1.x

An in-place upgrade from a DkimX 1.x version to DkimX 3.51 is not supported because DkimX 3.51 can only be installed on MS Exchange 2013/2016/2019 servers while DkimX 1.x versions could only be installed on MS Exchange 2007/2010 servers.

It is possible to perform a one-time migration of your DkimX 1.x configuration: Read the topic How to Migrate DkimX 1.x/2.x Configuration Settings in the product documentation.

Upgrading from DkimX 2.x

Upgrading from any DkimX 2.x version is supported. All configuration settings will be preserved.

In an in-place upgrade from a DkimX 2.x version is not desired, it is possible to perform a one-time migration of your DkimX 2.x configuration: Read the topic How to Migrate DkimX 1.x/2.x Configuration Settings in the product documentation.

Upgrading from DkimX 3.x

Upgrading from a previous DkimX 3.x version is supported. All configuration settings will be preserved.

Updating MS Exchange Server

When MS Exchange 2013/2016/2019 is updated to the latest cumulative update (CU), the priorities of registered transport agents may be changed, probably resulting in suboptimal functionality of DkimX. We recommend that you check and probably fix the priorities of the DkimX transport agents after upgrading MS Exchange 2013/2016/2019.

Managing DkimX on Windows Server 2019 Server Core installations

To manage a DkimX installation, you can either use the DkimX Management Shell, which provides a command-line interface, or you can use the DkimX Management Console, which provides a graphical user interface (GUI).

On a Windows Server 2019 Server Core installation, to start the DkimX Management Shell you run in the CMD prompt the CMD file LaunchDMS.cmd, located in the directory <InstallDir>\Bin, for example:

"%ProgramFiles%\DkimX\Bin\LaunchDMS.cmd"

To use the DkimX Management Console on a Windows Server 2019 Server Core installation requires installation of the optional feature package Windows Server 2019 Server Core App Compatibility Feature on Demand (FOD). When FOD is installed, MMC 3.0 Snap-Ins, like DkimX Management Console, can be used. To start the DkimX Management Console you run in the CMD prompt the MSC file DkimX.msc, located in the directory <InstallDir>\Bin, for example:

"%ProgramFiles%\DkimX\Bin\DkimX.msc"
